PREZ GREETINGS
Punxsutawney Phil's extra 6 weeks of winter are almost over!
Did you know that Phil -- the infamous weather predicting ground hog -- lives in Punxsutawney, Pennsylvania. He's not always right, in-fact between 2012 and 2021, Phil was only right about 40% of the time. As the story goes, if Phil comes out of his hole and sees his shaddow, then there will be six more weeks of winter. Whether he's right or wrong, the weather in Colorado is starting to make the turn towards spring. But don't be surprised when we have that Colorado spring snow in May!
IMPORTANT: This month's Group Meeting will be the annual officer (re-)elections. Be sure to come on out on March 16th at the IHOP on North Academy!

500,000 Miles!
by Eric Peterson
So, what does it take to cover 500,000 miles on BMWs?
Well, in my case it took 9 different bikes starting in 1983 with a German spec R100RS. I’d managed to get the first ‘Last Edition” pearl white with gray and red pinstripes. Sadly, it was not importable back to the US and got traded for a legal R100RT that I converted to RS trim when the USAF sent me to California.
I broke the first 100,000 in 1987 while riding a K75s and the chase was on! A couple of Iron Butt rides, 10 National Rallys, an Alaska trip and a 3 Flags ride tossed in for good measure and I received the plaque from BMWNA.
Looking back through maintenance records, I see more than 60 sets of tires and over 122 oil changes. I’d rather not add up the many accessories and riding gear purchases along the way.
So, what’s your story of the road? I know I’m not the only one in our club with some miles…..!
Here’s my list:
1983 R100RS
1984 R100RT (RS)
1987 K75s
1998 F650 Funduro
2001 F650 Dakar
2008 R1200GS
2014 G650GS
2010 R1200R
2016 R1200GS
Join Us in Making a Difference! Support the Karol Patzer MOA Children’s Charity
Every year at the MOA National Rally, we come together to give back to the community that hosts us. This year, we have an incredible opportunity to support the Empower Me Center, an organization dedicated to helping children and young adults with special needs.
How can we help? By donating through our club! (Yes, we are a 501.c3!)
Two Ways We Make an Impact:
🏆 50/50 Drawings – Held throughout the rally, these drawings not only create excitement but also raise thousands of dollars for the cause. Many lucky winners walk away with over $2,000, while the other half of the pot goes directly to the children’s charity.
💰 Club Donations – Clubs across the nation step up in a friendly competition, showcasing their generosity on a national donation board. Some clubs have even contributed $800-$900 in response to donation challenges! At the rally’s closing ceremony, the combined efforts of all MOA clubs often result in a check of $17,000 or more being presented to the chosen charity!
Let’s Show Our Club Spirit!
This is our chance to make a real difference. Whether it’s through a personal donation, a club challenge, or participating in the 50/50 drawings, every contribution helps.
And here’s something extra special: This year, we’re organizing sidecar rides for the kids—a heartwarming experience that brings pure joy and unforgettable memories. When this was done four years ago, it was a massive success!
How You Can Help:
✔️ Donate through our club—let’s get our name on that donation board!
✔️ Join the 50/50 drawings at the rally.
✔️ Be part of the sidecar rides for the kids.
Let’s come together, have fun, and make a real impact! If you’d like to contribute or learn more, reach out to Susanna for more information (see below) or Theresa (for making donations through the club).
Together, we can make a difference—one ride, one donation, one smile at a time!
